Personalized Frame

My "5 and a half" year old daughter (you can't forget the 'half') gets invited to a lot of birthday parties.  I love making these personalized frames as gifts.  They're easy, economical and so personal.  This was a gift she gave last year.  I did the letters with my Big Shot and the Serif Essentials alphabet in two colors - Pretty in Pink and Basic Black.  I offset the letters just a bit to give it depth and break up the light colors of pink on white.  The letters and background paper are all under the frame glass and the butterflies are on the outside of the glass.  I think it came out pretty cute!

I'm Back!! It's a Boy!!

Hi again! I'm back to blogging now after taking a few months off to have a baby. My new little man was born in May and I've been busy not only with him, but getting my daughter ready for kindergarten this year, too. Now that we're getting into routines again, I thought I'd get back to posting the many projects that I've been working on. I'd hoped to start posting again in August, which turned into September and then suddenly October. Phew! Time does fly by!

It's hard to see, but one of the last projects I finished before my little guy arrived (2-1/2 weeks early) was the shirt my daughter has on in the picture. Stores don't really sell 'Big Sister' shirts in size 8, so I made one for her. I used scrap material and cut all the letters out with my Big Shot and the Serif Essentials Alphabet dies. I ironed the letters onto the shirt and 'voila', there was a shirt for her to wear and show how proud she was when she came to visit us in the hospital. I wish I'd taken a picture right after it was finished when it was clean and ironed, but I didn't get a chance before I had to quickly pack her a bag to go to grandma's so I could go to the hospital. These days, the shirt is well loved (i.e. well-worn) and doesn't look as good as it once did.

Preschool Bag Tags

My daughter is growing up too fast! Monday was her 1st day of Preschool. She was so excited to go and meet new friends. I'm happy that she's so excited about school, but sad that my little buddy will be gone for part of the day!

Monday morning she woke up all on her own and even got dressed before she came out for breakfast. She had a surprise waiting for her - I had made these bag tags for her backpack and lunch bag. She loved them!

Can you believe I made these with cereal boxes? I don't throw those things away. I cut all of the sides off so they store flat and use them for stuff like this. Not just easy, but VERY inexpensive. My kind of project!

I took a 4-3/4" X 4-3/4" piece of the box and used a glue stick to adhere DSP on one side and cardstock on the other (the back side is Pretty in Pink). I ran them through the Big Shot with my Scallop Circle Die. I also used the Big Shot to cut the letter 'E' with the Serif Essentials Die. I didn't want to embellish too much since she's 4 and I'm sure they'll get beat up over the year, but they'll definitely help her identify her stuff!

Convention is coming!!!

I can't believe it! I'll be leaving for the Stampin' Up! Convention in Salt Lake City in less than 2 weeks! Woo Hoo! I love going and getting so many new ideas, meeting new people and, of course, stamping!

The last convention that I went to was 2 years ago. I met a wonderful group of ladies and I keep in touch with them online. We do several swaps throughout the year. This was my most recent swap with them for the Summer Mini catalog.

As you can see, I used my daughter's pajama top as inspiration. Below is a close up. I ran the heart through a sticker maker and then added Dazzling Diamonds glitter. The background is splattered with the Color Spritzer Tool and a Lovely Lilac marker.

Graduation Card Money Holder

Sorry for the long delay! I didn't have much computer access over the last week.
I made this card for my cousin who recently graduated from college. I loved that it fit perfectly in Stampin' Up!s small open ended envelopes. I actually started with the measurements of the envelopes (6 3/4" X 3 1/2") and worked backwards to determine the measurements of each piece of cardstock while making sure it could still hold the money. You can't see it real well in the picture, but there is a 6 1/2" X 3 1/4" piece of Night of Navy cardstock behind the Whisper White tri-fold.
