Thanksgiving Turkey Lights

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!  I spent a lot of time with family.  In fact, I'd hoped to post this and another project last week, but time got away from me.  

These lights came about via another project.  I had some snowman lights (will share those later) and a friend said she needed Turkey lights for a baby shower she was throwing right before Thanksgiving.  I was up for the challenge and here is what I came up with.  Pretty cute, huh?  

The pictures were hard to take with the tea lights on, but I think you can get the idea.  

 

Cardstock: Whisper White, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip

Accessories: Big Shot, Flower Folds Bigz die
Punches:  Snowflake (retired), Blossom Petals, 1-3/8" Circle, 1" Circle (access to power/battery on back), Owl Builder, Punch Pack (small circle)
Other:Black Sharpie (for eyeballs), battery operated tea light candle

I've been neglecting my blog. I've been thinking about it everyday and just not sitting down to post anything. I've been doing projects and even taking pictures of them. I even blog surf daily, but for some reason, I just couldn't bring myself to post. I don't know why...
Can I use the holidays with a new baby as an excuse??
WELL, it's a new year which hopefully means a fresh start. SO, I'm going to just sit down and post a project I did recently. Here we go...
I'm in a Yahoo group of SU Friends and we do an annual Christmas gift swap. I got many great gifts and here's what I did - Felt Coffee Cozies.


I got my template from Starbucks. I just opened up their cardboard version and traced it onto felt. I used my Big Shot for the flowers and hand sewed the buttons on. I hope the ladies liked these!

Big Shot Class - Felt Flower Keychain

I LOVE MY BIG SHOT!!! I had a Big Shot class yesterday for my customers & downline. I wanted to show a lot of different things that you can do with the Big Shot. Here is one of the projects we made... Felt Flower Keychains. (I got the original idea from this blog.)


I actually made a batch of these late last year for a swap with my Stampin' Up! friends. We do an annual gift exchange and this is what I chose to make. Super fun and super easy!
I was happy that the Stampin' Up! buttons even matched the felt I had purchased!

Tip #1: I folded a piece of red felt over the 3rd largest flower on the die and put the fold line just below the top of ONE of the petals. That created the place to hold the key ring.
Tip #2: I sewed the button onto the pink, orange and top layer of red felt ONLY. Then I used mini glue dots to secure the two red layers. Doing it this way ensures there are no stitches showing on the back side of the keychain. Nice & clean!

Mother's Day Gifts

These are the projects I did in a Mother's Day Class a few weeks ago. It really was simple to make and I was super happy with the results. I started with an 8-1/2" x 11" sheet of Creamy Caramel and the flower pot directions HERE but did a somewhat simplified version. It was easy using the Big Shot and the Flower Folds die. I used the leftover Creamy Caramel and made the triangle box. I love it when I have no cardstock wasted! I went a little crazy with the shimmer mist/alcohol mixture, too.
