Wonder Woman Birthday

What do you do when your daughter wants a Wonder Woman themed birthday and NO ONE sells Wonder Woman ANYTHING???  Well, you MAKE it of course!!

If you saw my daughter's Halloween Costume, you'll know she is a big fan of Wonder Woman.  She loves watching the old shows on Sci-Fi Saturday Night.

Luckily I had these small red paper bags (bought on clearance after Valentines Day who knows when) in my stash along with some leftover white stars from these cards on my desk. After staring at her Wonder Woman shirt for a long time, it hit me - I knew how to make the 'W'.  I die cut the 'W' and then used a retired picture corner punch (cut in half) for the 'wings'.  Voila!  It worked and she was happy!

Now, what do you do when you need a Wonder Woman cake for the birthday party?  MAKE it of course.  Well, not really.  I found this 'super-hero looking' cake at Wal-mart and added a Wonder Woman Little People figurine.  Phew!  Mission Accomplished!
Does that make me Wonder Wo-MOM?   :)

Convention 2014 Swaps

Since I'm playing Convention catch-up, now's a great time to share my Convention swaps.
I participated in an organized swap and made about 30 cards.  I varied the colors a bit by using my favorites of the new In-Colors.  (Hello Honey is starting to grow on me.  Slowly.)
Below are close-ups of each color.

Blackberry Bliss

Mossy Meadow
Lost Lagoon

Tangelo Twist

The card below is from the Hip Hip Hooray Card kit which is where I found the inspiration for my swap card.  See how I used a similar layout?

Convention 2014 Gifts

I whipped up these quick Convention gifts for friends using the Tag A Bag Polka Dot Bundle.  Wow!  Was this an easy bundle to use and the gifts came out super cute!  I just stamped the phrase from the Chalk Talk stamp set using the coordinating ink color, punched the image out with an oval punch and adhered a few layers of the tags.  Easy peasy!  I figured out a way to tie the white baker's twine (included in the bundle) so it would stay on the bag and not ruin it when they opened it.  Hint:  it involved punching a hole in the bag...
I filled the bags with goodies such a Crystal Light packets, gum and of course, chocolate!

Wood Stamp Case Convention Gifts

These little beauties were gifts for my roommates at Convention this year!  Yes, Convention was in July.  Yes, I'm WAY behind!  I know, I know...  :)

I came across the idea here and modified it by adding sticky notes.  I found these cute little pens on clearance at Staples.  Score!  And you can't forget chocolate - it goes with everything!

I'll be making more of these soon - I'm participating in a craft fair at my daughter's elementary school on November 15 and I think they'll sell.  What do you think?

I'm back - With a Frankenstein Card and a Halloween Recap

I'm back after a much too long break from blogging.  Between computer problems and life, blogging took a back seat.  However, I've been crafting a ton and have a lot to share.  I'm going to start with these super cute Frankenstein cards I made for Halloween.  I used the Circle Card Thinlits Die from Stampin' Up!

I've seen several versions online and combined them to make mine.  I used the 'BOO' stamp that came in the September Paper Pumpkin and the 'happy halloween' from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

Here are my kiddos all dressed up and ready to trick-or-treat.  Aren't they adorable?
Here's what they wore last year for Halloween.

And below is an overview of some of the things that were made for my daughter's 3rd grade class party.  Lots of fun stuff!

Hope you had a wonderful Halloween!  Come back for much more paper crafting goodies!

Mini Pizza Box Gift Holder

This box has been finished in my mind for several days now, I just needed to actually finish it by adding the embellishments.  My niece's birthday was yesterday and she had asked for a specific necklace.  Well, I needed a box to put it in, so it was the perfect opportunity to just FINISH this box already!!

The box itself is really easy and you can easily get 2 boxes per one sheet of cardstock.
Here are the measurements:
Start with cardstock 7-1/4" x 4".
Score the long side at 3/4", 3-1/4", 4" and 6-1/2".
Score the short side at 3/4" and 3-1/4".
Then embellish!

The measurements and inspiration for this project were found HERE.  Thanks Becky!

To make the flower topper, I used my Big Shot and the Fun Flowers Bigz Die.  I lightly sprayed water on each flower piece and then scrunched them up in my hand.  I let them dry and then attached them all together (and to the belly band) using a small silver brad.  The flowers held their shape after they dried. So pretty!

This also fits in as part of the Splitcoaststampers Creative Crew Challenge for March:
  • CCREW0314SF, CreativeCrew, SUO or SUM -- Show us something you love on a scrapbook page, This n That or 3D project!

I LOVE to make 3-D projects and had to try this as soon as I saw it.
    ~Enjoy!

Cardstock:  Pool Party, Island Indigo, Sweet Sorbet DSP (SAB)
Accessories:  Big Shot, Fun Flower Bigz Die, Silver Brads

Good as Gold

I'll be honest.  When I first saw the Good as Gold kit in the Sale-a-bration catalog, I thought 'What am I gonna do with that?'  After I attended Leadership and saw samples of the cards I started to warm up to the kit.  A little.  Then I started seeing samples that were 'outside of the box' and showed smart ways to use these products for anything but their intended purpose.  Now they're talking my language!  So, I took the plunge, got the kit and made these fun and super simple cards.  I was inspired by this card.  I love the splash of sparkling gold.

The 'Designer Paper' I used is actually the card bases that come in the kit.  I cut them in half and mounted them on cardstock.  So, instead of 8 cards that the kit is supposed to make, I can get twice that amount by adding just a bit of extra cardstock!  Yippee! And all of this with a kit I got for FREE with a $50 order.  Double Yippee!
Note:  I cut apart the gold envelope liners to make the background layer for the sentiment tag.  The gold star and gold ribbon are also included in the kit.

Enjoy!

You Make Me Happy...

I sing 'You are my Sunshine' to my daughter every night before she goes to sleep so when this stamp set came out it was a MUST have for my collection.  Then, I came across THIS card and had to CASE it.  The only thing I changed was adding some texture to the Whisper White layer.  Otherwise I left it alone.  Why mess with a good thing, right?

Cardstock:  Summer Starfruit, Pool Party, Whisper White, Sweet Sorbet DSP (SAB)

Happy St. Patrick's Birthday!

I have a few birthdays in my family on St. Patrick's day, so I wanted to give a go at a green-themed birthday card.  It also worked out as part of the Splitcoaststampers Creative Crew Challenge for March:
  • CCREW0314HF, CreativeCrew, SUO or SUM -- For this challenge, make a birthday card in purple (for St. Urho) or green (for St. Patrick). Use a technique or layout that you love!
I've seen this type of card all over and have wanted to try it for awhile.  I used the directions/tutorial found here for the card assembly.  It was super easy!
The almost-finished card needed something, so I got out my handy dandy green Sharpie and colored some rhinestones.  I love how they finished it off.  I needed to keep it somewhat masculine and even with the little 'bling' it's not too girlie.  What do you think?

I also used a quick tutorial on how to make the shamrock from the Pansy Punch HERE.  Easy Peasy!

Thanks for stopping by!

Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Wild Wasabi, Sweet Sorbet DSP (SAB)

Ink: Crumb Cake
Stamps: Happy Hour, Wacky Wishes
Accessories: Rhinestones
Punches: 2-1/2" Circle, 2-3/8" Scallop Circle, 1-3/4" Scallop Circle, Pansy, Banner
Other: Sharpie

More Houston Leadership Fun

One of the best things about a Stampin' Up! event is all of the goodies that I get to bring home.  I've even learned over the years to pack an extra bag in my suitcase to fit it all!  The picture above shows the make & take table before we got started.  We had some great make & takes (I'll share those soon) and got to bring home a new stamp set, plus the cute orange bag that held all of the supplies for the projects.

These are the great swaps that I received in return for my swap.  You can see the card that I made to swap HERE.   I signed up for an organized swap and ended up making about 30 cards.  I loved what I came home with.

On top of the swaps and the make & takes , I got to bring home the Leadership bag (LOVE IT!) along with a few stamp sets that I won from a Prize Patrol and the all attendee giveaways.

Want to join me at the next Stampin' Up! event?  Sale-a-bration is THE time of the year to sign up to be a demonstrator!  You can get up to $150 in products for only $99 PLUS free Convention Registration AND 20% off your future Stampin' Up! purchases.  Contact me if you have ANY questions!
